Hi, I'm a Garden Designer, Landscape Architect, Mom of two terrific teens & Daisy the Garden Dog, a serious flower & bird Lover and always impressed by the beauty of nature.
I worked in a family plant nursery where I began designing gardens in my teens. I have a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Florida.
I’ve worked in professional design firms which focused in master planning, golf, residential design and even got a dab of urban parks in Boston. I established The Elegant Garden in North Florida in 1993.
I studied gardens and outdoor spaces in Europe. I got to sketch famous gardens, villas and city squares. My studies abroad expanded my design horizons, my food palate and my last name…never say never!
When I consult, many times I am able to sketch a scaled plan right then, on-site. Sometimes plans need more thought, either in design or plant selection. It all depends... An on site consultation with a scaled drawing takes about 2-4 hours. Every yard and client are different so I am very happy to help you find your unique garden.
Text me or see the On-site Consultation page for more information.
I design bird gardens because they bring so much joy to the owners. It is healing to experience nature up close every day. Bird Gardens are therapeutic for people and the environment. Adding native plants to your yard creates a positive chain reaction. Natives are naturally lower in maintenance because, they thrive in nature all by themselves - without human intervention, if planted in the right conditions. Using native plants lowers care, chemicals and brings in 35 times more wildlife.
Native plants draw pollinators, butterflies and birds and are good for the environment. With the right balance of food, cover and shelter, you can create beautiful habitat right outside your window.
Yes, its true native plants are harder to find. That’s why I created the “Landscape Liaison” Service to locate and install those hard to find plant treasures. I work with trade-only growers and expert contractors. I test many plants in my personal Elegant Garden. I share that localized information with my clients and many others on my social media (Instagram, Facebook & Pinterest…You Tube coming!).
In North Florida we can grow so many edible perennials without a lot of work. Edible shrubs, trees and ground covers can be layered into any existing yard to create what I call a “Super Garden”. It does not need to be a messy farm, a chaotic jungle or an overgrown forest. You can have any garden style from traditional English to sub-tropical modern. It’s all in the planting design. So, look good, taste good and fit into the HOA! Visit the Super You Gardens Page for more information.
