Our History:
 After growing up working in the family plant nursery business, studying Italian gardens in Italy and obtaining a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Florida, Kelly Tesiero moved to the Northeast where she worked in several landscape architectural firms. Kelly's experience included large public spaces-like parks, golf courses and roof top gardens on parking garages-to high-end residential estates. A new vision was born from this work experience, her education in creating spaces and her intimate knowledge of plants in North Florida. Moving back home to Jacksonville, Florida in 1993, Kelly formed the Elegant Garden, Inc. with the goal of connecting people to nature on a more personal level.
Most homeowners need a plan with plant quantities and bed lines. Having a written plan of their yard gives them ownership and control. Unlike architecture where the plan must be exact to the inch, landscape design is creative and must flow with nature. There must be give and take when a large root is encountered or a hurricane takes down a favored old oak. Kelly helps homeowners face to face instead of sitting behind the drawing board miles away at an office by providing a written sketch plan that specifies plant varieties and quantities.
Designing a garden plan directly on site brings a freshness that is sometimes lost in a long drawn out process. There are hurdles to jump like: measuring the site, placing trees, pools, drawing to scale and presenting the plan to the homeowner within hours instead of weeks. Kelly has honed her skills to design gardens quickly and beautifully on site for clients with all types of residences up to and including the multi-million dollar level.
